November 8, last year, I woke up with the news that Matchbox20 won’t be able to come here in the Philippines as scheduled for their highly anticipated concert. The culprit? A typhoon named Yolanda (Haiyan). I was actually saddened by that piece of news only to realize the following days that it would be the least of my concerns for Yolanda is making more devastating news!
People died, others were injured and missing. The whole of Tacloban City was wiped-out. There were no food, water, electricity and other essentials to continue living. There are no shelters and evacuation centers because everything was wrecked. The survivors were left with nothing but life itself, devastation from their losses and some hope to keep them going. Yes, Yolanda did that and more…
The downpour of messages expressing sympathy. The sincere words of encouragement. The promises of help from people and other countries. It was unexpected and surprising. It was heartwarming. It was overwhelming. It was a rainbow after the rain. A new hope for all those people who suffered. A new beginning for everyone.
