on my shelf ~ Rurouni Kenshin Volume 1 (Manga – Vizbig Edition)

“You see, reading it on paper is something more personal for me. More intimate. And inevitably, and not surprisingly, I fell in love again with Kenshin Himura, for the nth time.”

The Kenshin Himura fanatic in me is rejoicing right now! I finally got my hands on my copies of Rurouni Kenshin mangas! No, the collection is far from being completed. The set is actually composed of 28 volumes from the original edition, while the Vizbig edition is comprised of seven enormous books. And I only got my first two volumes from the first edition and one volume from the other edition. Forgive my overreacting here, but I’m just too ecstatic about this. Well, maybe it has to do with the fact that it was the first time I ordered books online. The waiting and anticipation was too much to handle. 🙂 By the way, I have to thank GoHastings for their good service and for meeting my expectations, surpassing them even.

Rurouni Kenshin Volume 1 Vizbig Edition includes the first three volumes of the original edition:

  1. Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story
  2. The Two Hitokiri
  3. A Reason to Act

So, you can imagine how huge this book in comparison with its original edition. It also has several pages in full-color. Aside from those slight differences in packaging, the two editions are both worth collecting.

I am so glad that I bought these mangas. Reading them is a whole new experience and I am relishing that beautiful experience. You see, reading it on paper is something more personal for me. More intimate. And inevitably, and not surprisingly, I fell in love again with Kenshin Himura, for the nth time.

In reading these graphic novels, I am not only learning about Kenshin and the story. Most importantly, I got acquainted with its writer Nobuhiro Watsuki. I even had a glimpse of each character’s inspiration and model that helped the writer in creating and designing them. The characters became more alive, tangible, and somehow discernible. And I am so loving the artworks! They are really amazing! Here are some of the gorgeous drawings you might want to see. 🙂
