“So let me take this space and this opportunity to thank you, Mr. Watsuki, for creating Kenshin Himura. For giving life to him. For sharing him to us. For letting us know him…”
Reading the Rurouni Kenshin mangas opened my eyes to the man who created one of the best protagonists in Kenshin Himura’s character. Nobuhiro Watsuki. The mangas allow its readers to take a peek at his thoughts and imagination, showing us how he meticulously created and designed, both literally and figuratively, every character inside his imaginary-turned-real world.
I really admire how he ingeniously crafted each character, from their intricately plotted background stories to the interesting complexities of their personalities. It’s astounding the way he concocted a perfect mixture of good and evil, of beauty and ugliness, in each and every one of them that the readers would actually ask themselves if they should love or hate these characters, the contradictions and complications that readers have no choice but love. Like that of Saito’s, Sojiro Seta’s and even Kurogasa’s, yes that killing machine.
I feel a soul and a heart in every character and that really is something for fictional characters like them. And for that alone I commend Mr. Nobuhiro Watsuki for a job well done. The story is another matter. Another triumphant endeavor if you ask me. And of course, the drawings are superb! Another success for the man whom I should pay immense gratitude to.
So let me take this space and this opportunity to thank you, Mr. Nobuhiro Watsuki, for creating Kenshin Himura. For giving life to him. For sharing him to us. For letting us know him. And for letting him exist and live with us. Thank you very much.
