I hope I could tell what those eyes conceal
Or what that voice is trying to reveal
Is that a past that you’d rather forget
Or a part of your life that you want to regret?
Is it a loss that you mean to recover
Or a beautiful memory that is gone forever?
Is it a promise that was left undone
Or a betrayal you never thought would come?
If only I could discern what’s behind those stares
The shivering coldness too impossible to ignore
Could it be a wound that he never meant to mend
Or another scar to mark another defeat?
Could be a ghost from yesterday that keeps on hovering
Or a childish dream that up to now he’s been chasing?
Could be the lies that he learned to believe
Or a deception that he can’t afford to forgive?
I can see beyond the calm façade
And the hint of loneliness despite the crowd
Must be a secret you’ve been keeping for so long now
Or a fear you wish you never knew
Must be an isolation you can’t seem to abandon
Or a battle you have to face alone
Must be an indecision crowding up your head
Or a struggle you will never ever concede
Forgive my intrusion
All these accusations
Pardon such insinuations
Must be my imagination
